How To: Smokey Eye

My roommate suggested I do a video on how I do my smokey eye make up. It might have been a joke, but I ran with it. Find out my secrets to the PERFECT #smokeyeye in this video.

Disclaimer: I am not a make up artist. Don’t take me too seriously.

How To: Basic Make Up

I just started doing make up a few months ago after pretty much never wearing makeup. Now I’m teaching myself how to do simple makeup that doesn’t feel heavy or itchy but is still within my budget.

In this video, I share my tips and tricks for people just starting out with makeup. Make sure to suggest a name for my plant below! It needs a name so I don’t kill it!

Why I’m On YouTube – NEW VIDEO

YouTube has been a big part of my life for a while. In this video, I discuss how it got me to where I am today, as well as what I hope my channel can be for other people.

When I was in middle school and high school, I turned to YouTube in my darkest times to seek out inspiration for my future. The YouTubers I watched were living out my dreams; making a living doing what they loved. This inspired me to pursue writing and filmmaking. They aren’t the more stable of careers, but it was what I loved (and love) doing.

Yoga for Non-Athletic People

Ever since I took a yoga class in high school and hated it, I’ve been on a mission to teach myself yoga instead. Exercising is all about going at your own pace, if you push yourself too far too soon, you’ll hurt yourself (like I did in 7th grade track!)

In the video, I demonstrate some easy, beginner positions to get the ball running for anyone interested in yoga, but is not athletic, just like me!

Chicago to Los Angeles

I traveled over 43 hours from Chicago (which has been my home for the past four years) to Los Angeles (my new home). The train took us through sweeping plains, mountain passes, and vast deserts.

It was my first time traveling by train, other than the “L”. I was used to traveling long distances by car, or bus, or plane, but traveling by train was a whole different experience. It was, surprisingly, most like my trip via cruise ship around the caribbean last summer. The helpful crew and mealtimes lifted my travels a step up above bus travel. Having a bathroom aboard (multiple in every train car) was an improvement from car travel where frequent rest stops are common place.

Rolling along parts of the old Santa Fe trail and Route 66 made me feel as though I was in a spaghetti western. I half expected Clint Eastwood, or the like, to be gunslinging out my window. Old horse trails, where the grass still hasn’t grown back, remain like a time capsule. What once was the land of American “destiny” was now just a passing view on my trip elsewhere.

The majesty of America’s heartland and not-so wild west will be captured in a Travelogue coming soon.

Two Weeks in Paris – New Travel Video

“There is a feeling you get in the pit of your stomach when you walk into somewhere with an abundance of history. The feeling sweeps over you like a wave. It is a warm wave, sudden and oddly familiar.” – an excerpt from my Paris journal.

In January 2017, I spent two weeks in Paris, the city of lights. It was an amazingly beautiful and rewarding experience, and marked my first time out of the country. I have immortalized the highlights of my trip in this video: Two Weeks in Paris.
